The pool dazzled under the reflection of a clear star dotted heaven. Now, wide awake, I study the pool for more life and a few meters from the grunting hippos, resting in the rim of the pond is a crocodile. I can not go back to sleep now with so much happening just below my deck.

Upon the veranda of a tent, a couple of vibrant kingfishers dive into the pools as the embellished Malachite and grey headed kingfishers on the shrubs look on as 2 young crocodiles bask under the sun next to the tent.
"This is an entire ecosystem" observes the guide. "There are no fences thus the animals have the right of way." "During drought, elephants, giraffes, water bucks trek here when water is limited elsewhere".
It's incredible that the trek around the grounds has lasted from morning meal to lunchtime. A spotted monitor lizard scampers in front of our trail while it vanishes into the thick shrub. Soon we reach the crocodile nursery at the pool where the spring water bubbles.
A minute crocodile lies on the plain rock oblivious of our presence. The clear pool of bubbling water is quite vibrant with the young charges. We marvel at how this tiny one shall one day grow into a colossal sized crocodile. What a morning!
